Thursday, 17 September, Singapore — Phillip Nova today announced the opening of UZEX Global JV LLC (“UZEX Global”), a joint venture established by the Uzbek Commodity Exchange (“UZEX”) and Phillip Trading, a member of the PhillipCapital Group (“the Group”), to provide access to international futures markets.
The launch marks a new chapter in the growing economic and business relationship between Uzbekistan and Singapore and supports Uzbekistan’s continued development as a more open and internationally connected economy.
UZEX Global combines UZEX’s strong local foundations and knowledge of Uzbekistan’s commodity markets with PhillipCapital’s international financial-market experience. The joint venture is intended to serve as a bridge between Uzbek businesses and international financial and commodity markets, giving market participants greater access to global opportunities and tools to manage their exposure to international market developments.
Through UZEX Global, corporate clients in Uzbekistan will be able to access commodity futures linked to international markets, with initial access to markets including CME Group, Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) and the London Metal Exchange (LME). These markets provide exposure to a range of globally traded commodity futures contracts, supporting the trading and risk-management needs of businesses as Uzbekistan’s economy becomes increasingly integrated with the global economy.
UZEX Global will also use Phillip Nova’s technology suite, including NOVA’s trading platform, risk management system and back-office system, to support its operations and provide an integrated infrastructure for trading, risk management and post-trade processes.
The establishment of UZEX Global also reflects a long-term commitment by the PhillipCapital Group to Uzbekistan and its growing role in international trade and investment.
