Bitcoin Plummets to $21k; U.S SEC Investigates Coinbase

👎The price of bitcoin fell well below $22,000 for the first time in a week as investors started counting down to the 75-basis point rate hike that the U.S Fed is widely anticipated to announce this week. BTC recently traded at over $21,000, down around 3% over the previous day. Yesterday, Bitcoin started to decline as investors expressed concern about the Fed’s capacity to control inflation without sending the economy into a deep recession.

🧐The U.S Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is looking into crypto exchange Coinbase after reports that it allowed Americans to trade unregistered securities. Seven of the coins which were sold as securities, according to allegations made by the SEC last week in a separate insider trading lawsuit.

👨‍⚖️CEO of Binance Changpeng Zhao has filed a defamation lawsuit against Modern Media CL., the publisher of Bloomberg Businessweek in Hong Kong. The lawsuit stemmed from a title of a translated article in Chinese that said Zhao was the head of a “ponzi scheme.” According to Zhao, the publisher used a headline with the intention of inciting hate.
